Statistically Speaking

While Carnegie Mellon has no religious affiliation, it’s hard to deny that a large percentage of the campus community is celebrating Easter or Passover this week. While we haven’t spoken for all holidays, here are some statistics on these two:

Dozens of eggs sold during Easter week: 105.4 million

Dozens of eggs sold per week, on average: 72.6 million

Number of colored eggs used in the annual White House Easter Egg Roll: 5500

Amount of matzo exported to Jewish communities this year: 3000 tons

Amount of money matzo-eaters will spend on matzo-related products this year: $26.4 million

Number of faiths practiced in the United States: 1500
