Bar Buddies: Shadyside Hideaway
After Ariel rudely referred to my stand-in last week as being “prettier” than me, I probably shouldn’t have been so kind as to go out with her again this week. Alas, I decided to let my truly kind heart prevail over my better judgment and forgave her for this transgression. This week, we headed to South Highland’s Shadyside Hideaway.

Bar Buddies: STATION
Since Zeke had to do homework or something (cough nerd cough), I replaced him with a prettier bar buddy for this week's adventure to STATION. We arrived expecting train-themed cocktails but somehow ended up on a third date — or what felt like one. Despite our sticker shock, it was snowing, we were starving, and it was the end of a very long week. As a wise woman once said, "Treat Thyself."

Bar Buddies: Hidden Harbor
After an ominously balmy Friday, Zeke and I enjoyed much more seasonally appropriate weather for our Saturday trip to Squirrel Hill's premiere tiki bar: Hidden Harbor. It may have been freezing outside, but the second we walked through the doors of this improbable neighborhood haven we were transported to a wonderful vacation in Hawaii (or a very culturally inaccurate version of it).

Bar Buddies: Mario's East Side Saloon
Walnut Street is a popular place to go shop and eat, and it also has its share of bars. One in particular, Mario's East Side Saloon, is a popular place for people to go hang out, drink, and throw a few darts until the patrons pack the place so tightly they start spilling out the front door. Bar Review: Squirrel Hill Cafe
Zeke and I originally planned to start off this column with an exciting bar in an exciting neighborhood. But when Zeke was an hour late (although he insists he was only 49 minutes late) and we had no mixers but cinnamon-apple tea and the world was an icy wasteland of frozen dreams, we decided to walk down the street to Squirrel Hill Cafe.
